Soutpansberg ladies shine at SA Country Districts Tournament

 

The Soutpansberg Squash Club is beaming with pride after four of its members represented Limpopo Province at the prestigious South African Country Festivals Tournament, which was hosted in Polokwane from 2 to 4 May.

Erik Welman competed in the highly competitive A section, while Heinrich Fletcher held his own in the B section. Meanwhile, Ronel Welman and Louis Lordan’s ladies' team proudly represented the club in the women's section and emerged victorious as the overall winners.

This outstanding achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and talent of our local squash players. The Soutpansberg Squash Club is proud to have nurtured these athletes and looks forward to seeing them continue to excel in the sport.

Andries van Zyl

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.
