Gumani held log leaders to goalless draw

Gumani Young Stars held the current leaders in the Hlanganani stream of the Makhado Local Football Association, Tswika River Bank, to a goalless draw at Pfananani on Saturday.

Bank realised that it would be a difficult day when their leading goal scorer, Pasca Mulaudzi, fumbled at the goal finish. He received a good pass from Kabelo Ramaite within the box and shot wide. Mulaudzi committed a similar error a little later. This time around, he failed to connect Pfarelo Muluvhu’s square pass.

Thabiso Sebola, centre back, was lucky to get away with a yellow card. He obstructed keeper Khumbudzo Makumbe at the edge of the box in a one-on-one situation. The referee did the unexpected when he flashed a yellow card.

The second half started at a snail's pace, with both teams struggling to penetrate each other’s defence. Stars replaced Tsumbedzo Mushavhela with Mischack Mushavhela early in the second half. Vutomi Khoza of Stars became a laughing stock in the 79th minute. He won a loose ball from the left corner and ran a few steps towards the goals before beating the keeper. His shot hit the woodwork and landed outside the field of play for a goal kick.

Avhurengwi Managa of Stars was booked for a late tackle late in the game.

Bank realized that it would be difficult to find the net if they continued volleying from behind and then started to cool the ball down in the middle of the park. They hit the back of the net, but the referee ruled the player offside.
