Matsa Northern Stars held Tshiozwi Dynamso to a thriling 1-1 draw in their Safa Vhembe Promotional match at the Tshiozwi grounds on Sunday.
The draw was a fair result for the evenly contested match. In the first half, the home lads spent the whole match running for cover. The absence of many players in the Stars defence was felt from the onset. Lingedzani Khauli could not make the grade, as the opponents used him as their freeway.
If a soccer match could be won through the number of scoring chances a team creates, Dynamos would have won the match convincingly. Their strikers wasted many opportunities to win the match.
The home team´s left back, Gift Mashau, and the Stars striker, Ducan Munzhelele, were reprimanded with cards early in the second half for rough tackling and time-wasting respectively. Dynamos introduced Alugumi Mamugudubi for Nyathi Netshiendeulu, but this did not have any influence on the outcome of the match. The scoreline was still blank when the referee blew his whistle for half time.
The homeside scored first when Aluwani Nedzamba received a beautiful pass from Patson Mahanelo in the 76th minute, forced his way through the Stars defence and unleashed a ground cutter. The Stars keeper, Rasalanavho Sadiki, missed the ball and Nedzamba finished on a rebound.
Dynamos enjoyed their lead until the 88th minute, when Stars found the equaliser. Their killer-striker, Rabelani Bulala, beat the Dynamos keeper, Thendo Shivhishi, with a close-range shot after receiving a pass from Mpho Bulala.
The result of the match means that Dynamos now have five league matches without celebrating a victory.
