MALAMULELE – The police in Malamulele are investigating a murder case, after an incident at the Malamulele Shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon at about 14:00. In the incident a 35-year-old man, Ficky Chauke, shot and killed his 27-year-old wife and shot and injured his wife's concubine. He later turned the firearm on himself and he died on the spot.
According to police spokesperson in the Mopani area, Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, Chauke has allegedly found his wife in the company of a concubine. The statement indicates that the deceased opened fire at the wife and killed her instantly. He later turned the gun to his wife's alleged concubine whom he shot and injured. The statement further indicates that the deceased later turned the firearm on himself.
According to Ngoepe Chauke was working at a local security company as a security officer.
The statement further indicates that he used a personal licensed firearm during the ordeal.
A 30-year-old woman, Virginia Rikhotso who was passing-by was shot and injured by a stray bullet during the incident.
Both Rikhotso and the alleged boyfriend were still in a critical condition at the Malamulele hospital at the time of going to press. The injured boyfriend was identified as Mr Frank Baloyi (35).
Frank is a Human Resources Manager at the Department of Public Works in Limpopo. He is the longest serving correspondent of the Mirror, having joined us at the end of 1990. He mainly writes sports reports and resides at Tsianda Village. In 2004, Frank won the National Castle League Award, an award for the best reporter in the SAB league in South Africa.
