Mathule Masters were crowned the 2008 Ibvabiko champions during a soccer tournament at the Lwamondo School grounds last Friday.

Mathule Masters FC, Thohoyandou Stamina Free FC, Vuwani Masters and Ngovhela Masters, took part in the tournament. Lufule Masters, who were also supposed to take part in the tournament, pulled out at the eleventh hour and were replaced with Ngovhela Masters. Ngovhela were crowned the champions for the Makwarela Soccer Tournament that was staged at the Makwarela Stadium two weeks ago.

In the first semi-final, Vuwani Masters were booted out of the tournament when they lost 2-4 to Mathule Masters. Thohoyandou Stamina Free gave Ngovhela Masters no chance in the second semi-final as they crushed them 1-3.

Mathule Masters and Thohoyandou Stamina Free met in a dream final. Stamina Free refused to die. The score was still 1-1 at the end of the normal time. The winner was determined through penalty shoot-out. Stamina Free scored from four of their five chances, while Mathule hit the target five times, thus obtained a 6-5 victory. Mathule were presented with a cash prize of R500 and a floating trophy during a ceremony that was held at the grounds at the end of the final match.

Stamina Free took home a cash prize of R200. Teams that were booted out of the tournament in the semi-final stages, Ngovhela Masters and Vuwani Masters, were each given a consolation prize of R100. The tournament was sponsored by Ibvabiko Video Productions Company.
