The much-awaited final of the PIB MTG and Black Leopards KO Competition will be staged at the Makonde Stadium on Sunday.
Makonde Brazil and Phaphazela Real Hexagon will lock horns in the final. Hexagon beat Mulindathavha Ocean Swallows 1-0 in the semifinal at the same venue last Sunday. The result was a bitter pill to swallow for the Swallows fans as their team dictated the terms in all departments from the onset to the bitter end.
Makonde Brazil’s way to the final went via Tswinga Peace Makers, whom they beat 6-5 in the semifinal stage of the competition. The final is scheduled to start at 15:00, while the losers’ final match is expected to kick off at 13:00. Mulindathavha Ocean Swallows and Tswinga Peace Makers will fight for the third and fourth places in this match.
The champions of the competition will walk away with a cash prize of R12 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and soccer kit. The runners-up will take home a cash prize of R5 000, silver medals and soccer kit. A cash prize of R3 000 and soccer kit will be presented to the team that will finish in the third position, while the fourth-placed team will receive R2 000 and a soccer kit.
The teams that were booted out of the competition in the quarterfinal stage will receive a consolation prize of R1 000 each.
Brazil will be minus their midfielder, Vhutshilo Nyamande, when they face Real Hexagon in the final on Sunday. He saw red in their match against Tswinga Peace Makers last Sunday.
