Father accused of raping toddler

 
SOEKMEKAAR – A 26-year-old father was arrested by the Soekmekaar Police for allegedly raping his 18-month-old daughter.

Police spokesperson, Capt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, said the mother of the child became suspicious when she found a discharge coming from her daughter's private parts, when she was washing her.

After inquiring from the child, the shocked woman could not believe it when the toddler told her that her father had raped her. The mother immediately reported the matter to the police who arrested the father last week Sunday. It later emerged that the father had intercourse with the girl since last month.

The father was still to appear in court by the time of going to press. Meanwhile, police are also looking for a man who is suspected of abducting and raping of a 10-year-old girl.

The man allegedly asked the girl, to accompany him to a shop. He then dragged her to the bush where he allegedly raped her. He later disappeared from the scene.

Mushavhanamadi said they were hopeful to arrest the man, as he is known to them.

In another incident, an 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl at Mubvumoni Village. The incident took place on Saturday.
