In their SAB League match that was played at the Ngwenani-ya-Themeli ground on Saturday (10 September), Ngwenani Young Chiefs gave Block L Home Sweepers a free soccer lesson when they crushed them 4-1.
Home Sweepers were down and out in the first 20 minutes. It was for this reason that they conceded two goals within the first 10 minutes.
Chiefs opened their account in the sixth minute. Their overlapping midfielder, Tshilisanani Ratshibvuno, sent the Sweepers’ keeper, Ndivhuwo Mukwevho, the wrong way after receiving a neat pass from Mashau Ramulondi. It took the home side two minutes to increase the tally. Eric Mangenzhane made no mistake, following a beautiful pass from Tshifhiwa Ramatsea.
Young Chiefs continued to dominate the proceedings, but their strikers fumbled at the goal finish.
The referee, Deon Mphuma, warned Eric Mangenzhane of Chiefs with a card, following a late tackle on Sifiso Dladla. At that stage, the game was 34 minutes old. Chiefs were leading 2-0 at half time, despite enjoying ball possession.
The second half saw Young Chiefs introduce Divhanani Sigogo for Mashau Ramulondi. Sigogo’s introduction proved to be a clever move on the part of the Chiefs’ technical staff. They scored the third through Tshifhiwa “Gama” Ramatsea in the 67th minute. Ramatsea was reprimanded with a card a little later, following obstruction of Lufuno Muedi.
A substitute, Divhanani Sigogo, scored the fourth in the 78th minute with a ground cutter. The visitors rectified their mistakes and pulled one back via Brian Mahuwa in the dying minutes.
