Davhana Shooting Stars managed to collect six points in their SAB League matches over the past weekend.
Their Saturday match against Phungo All Stars, which was supposed to have been played at the Maniini ground, was declared a walkover for them. Phungo All Stars arrived late, despite the fact that it was a home fixture for them.
Shooting Stars´ Sunday match was against Tshedza Stars, whom they beat 4-2 at the Vuwani Mandani grounds. It took Shooting Stars 18 minutes to open their account. Their overlapping midfielder, Thomas Makhubele, was on target after receiving a neat pass from Oscar Silima.
Shooting Stars did not have a lot of time to celebrate their goal. Tshedza Stars were awarded a free kick outside the box two minutes afterwards. Lufuno Mutele beat the keeper with a volley from the place kick. Shooting Stars were leading 2-1 when the teams adjourned for half time. Their second goal came in the 38th minute. Rofhiwa Netshiungani was on target, following a scramble within the Tshedza danger area.
The referee, Pollen Sibara, reprimanded Mashudu Dama of Tshedza with a card three minutes into the last half. He tackled Ndotshidzwa Rudzani of Shooting Stars from behind. Happy “Venture” Mahuntsi put Shooting Stars further ahead after a square pass from Shandukani Mukoma.
Happy Mahuntsi caused an upset a little later. He shot wide, with the keeper already beaten. Shooting Stars put matters beyond doubt when Rofhiwa Netshiungani completed his brace in the 78th minute. A substitute for Tshedza, Mulalo Badzhi, pulled one back seven minutes before the referee blew the final whistle.
