Harvest day for Hlanganani teams

SHIRLEY- Prize money amounting of R23 000 was distributed to the teams during the prize-giving ceremony of the Hlanganani Football Association, which was held at the Akanani centre on Sunday.

The log leader of each stream went home with R2 100 and a floating trophy. The runners-up received R1 700, while the third-placed teams were each given R1500. The teams occupying the following three positions received R1 300, R1 200, and R1 100 respectively.

The team that finished the league programme at the top of Stream B is The Elephant. Mashau King Fisher won Stream A, with Arsenal FC in the second spot.

The overall winner of all the streams was Mashau Kingfisher and they received an additional R1 200 and were promoted to Northern Province East Region Promotional League.

The champion of the Top 8 was also Kingfisher and they went home with R800 and a floating trophy. The runners-up, who collected R700, were Maboko New Stars. Nkuzana New Release ended in the third position and were given R500. The Elephant, who finished in the fourth position, were given R400. The four remaining teams received R200 each.

The president of Hlanganani Football Association, Mr George Kubayi, appealed to businesspeople to get involved in promoting local activities. He added that his league had been operating many years without a sponsorship.
