The Musina Municipality introduced its Strategic Plan for the coming financial year, which starts in July 2008. Senior municipal officials presented their plans before the council, which is the highest decision-making body, at the weekend.
Municipal Manager Abram Luruli said the municipality is proud because, during the review of the previous financial year’s strategic plan, it was realized that 99% of the expectations had been met. "This reflects that we are moving in the right direction because our successes do not even need a guest speaker to emphasize them. It was tough when we made our resolutions last year and we realized that it would not be an easy task to implement those resolutions. We are happy because we have managed to put all the obstacles aside to realize our dreams, despite the challenges we encountered on the way."
Luruli thanked municipal employees, the council and members of the community for their contributions towards the success of the municipality. "It needs joint efforts for us to succeed and we are filled with gratitude by the support we get from different stakeholders. Unity is the only weapon that brings prosperity and success."
Mayor Caroline Mahasela said the weekend’s strategic planning session was impressive and it showed that the municipality was gearing up towards achieving its goals of bringing a better life for all. "We handled issues of the utmost importance that will help us in executing our duties without compromise. I have no doubt that we will kick off the coming financial year on a high note to become a shining example of what service delivery is all about."
Municipal departments that tabled their plans before the council included Corporate Services, Technical Department, IDP & LED, Finance, Community Services, Zelpy, Communications, Mayor’s Office and Municipal Manager’s Office.
