A Magwaba bus collided with a van and overturned in an orchard on Sunday morning.

Passengers escape death in yet another bus crash

FONDWE - Seven people, including a bus driver, sustained injuries when a bus heading to Thohoyandou collided with a van and overturned into an orchard at Fondwe Village on Sunday.

Both vehicles were coming from the Siloam area and the driver of the van decided to cross the road heading to the Sibasa Saw Mills at Khalavha Village. The bus smashed into the van’s rear and it overturned.

Seven passengers from both vehicles, including the bus driver, sustained injuries and were taken to the Siloam Hospital for treatment.

Police Superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi confirmed that passengers were taken to the Siloam Hospital and the police are investigating the cause of accident.

Two weeks ago, two buses were involved in a head-on collusion at Phiphidi Village and 67 passengers were injured. The spokesperson of the Traffic Department, Mr Thilivhali Mulaudzi, said his department is worried about the escalation of accidents in which public transport vehicles are involved on the Vhembe roads.
