Mayor Mihloti Ramoyada greets Chief Avhatendi Rambuda upon her arrival at the Rambuda Traditional Council offices in Dzimauli.

Good relationship between Musina and Chief

The young new traditional leader of the Rambuda kingdom, Chief Avhatendi Rambuda, commended Musina Municipality for having a good working relationship with civic structures, including traditional leaders. This was during Mayor Mihloti Ramoyada’s visit to Dzimauli to pay homage to the new chief.

Chief Rambuda stated that when his father, Chief Muthuhathonwi Rambuda, passed away two years ago, the first delegation to offer condolences was from Musina. "The municipality also played a vital role to make sure that my father received a dignified burial. It is only three weeks since I have been installed as chief and the people from Musina Municipality are the first to come here and pay homage to my chieftancy. I’m really impressed by the leadership of this municipality. This is what we call consultative governance.”

The chief, who obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology and graduated with a BSc in Geology and Environmental Management from the University of Johannesburg, is currently studying towards an LLB degree at the University of Venda.

Rambuda said the time for municipalities to operate without consultating traditional leaders should be a thing of the past. “Traditional leaders own the land and municipalities bring development. It is very important for these two institutions to complement each other when it comes to service delivery. We are satisfied with the way Musina Municipality is accelerating service delivery to our villages, although we acknowledge that much is still to be done.”

Mayor Ramoyada gave a brief service delivery report on the villages under Rambuda Traditional Council that form part of Musina Municipality. The villages are Madimbo, Malale, Tanda, Tshikhudini and Domboni. “It was important for me to come personally and show respect to him, because we need to work together to deliver quality services to our people. The Musina Traditional Leaders Forum, which we recently launched, will serve as a good platform to discuss service-delivery-related issues.”
