Victory and draw for Univen students

It was a weekend characterized by mixed fortunes for Univen FC. They beat Cobra All Stars 2-1 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Tshisaulu grounds on Saturday and came back from a 0-2 deficit to hold Tshakhuma RO United to a 3-3 draw at the Univen Stadium the following day.

Although Univen conceded two early goals on Sunday, they did not throw in the towel. They continued to fight collectively, creating some promising moves from behind. They conceded a silly goal in the 11th minute. Lufuno “CJ” Mugodi gave the ball a final touch, following a square pass from Emmanuel Mababo.

The visitors from Tshakhuma increased the lead through Takalani Ratshilima seven minutes later. Ratshilima capitalized on a clearing error and beat the keeper with a ground cutter, and shortly thereafter, Thetshelesani Tshipani of Univen was reprimanded with a card for a late tackle on Lufuno Mugodi.

United enjoyed the lead until the proceedings for the first half came to an end. Univen replaced their injured keeper, Senzo Makhumbule, with Victor Matuasa two minutes into the last half. United committed suicide by playing defensive football in the opening minutes of the last stanza. That gave the home side the chance to invade their territory.

Univen pulled one back in the 59th minute through Mulisa Netshitongwe, who came in as a substitute for Pfano Mulaudzi. The referee, Mr Rabelani Nemushungwa, flashed another yellow card in the 64th minute. Lavhelesani Mukomafhedzi obstructed Anza Mululuma just outside the box and the referee was quick to produce yellow.

Mulisa Netshitongwe scored Univen's equalizer with a header, following a corner kick that was taken by Pfano Mulaudzi. United were awarded a penalty after Madilonga Mukwevho handled within the box. Victor Makhaukhau made no mistake from the white spot. Anza Mululuma scored the Univen equalizer with a header late in the game.
