Chief Dzumbuluwani Tshivhase was at Mukumbani when he received a telephone call alerting him that his house was fire. Tshivhase returned back home and found that everything at his house had been destroyed. The estimated damage is R70 000. “In January, I escaped a petrol bomb attack, and Siloam police are the witnesses,” he said. “I will never move from my yard; if they want to kill me, they will find me here. A baboon dies in the mountains and I will die protecting my property,” he ads.
Sub-headman Alpheus Ramakhokha said all villagers must gather and decide when and how to rebuild the chief’s houses. A villager, Mr Selebalo Simon Mabasa, said it is clear that there is someone who set the place on fire. People must respect each others property, “and the Chief will remain the Chief.”
Thovhele Kennedy Midiyavhathu Tshivhase said the royal family will discuss the problem, “but we want to promote good governance. The Chief is there for the people and the people are there for the Chief and they must share views in harmony.”
Police Captain Mashudu Malelo said it is true that two houses have been gutted by fire and the police are still investigating the cause of fire.
