Friends and family of the late Takalani Mbulungeni and community members from Vhurivhuri and Mphego paid their last respects during her emotional funeral at the Mphego cemetery on Saturday. Mbulungeni, a 21-year-old third-year nursing student at Univen was stabbed to death on campus a fortnight ago. According to the police, her jealous boy fried, who allegedly suspected that she was cheating on him, stabbed her repeatedly on her return from practicals. After the incident, the man, a nurse at a local hospital, tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat. He is still in hospital in a critical condition. On Saturday, fellow students clad in their nursing uniforms came in their numbers to bid her a final farewell. The mood was sombre when her colleagues carried her casket from the hearse to her final resting place. Her tombstone was also unveiled during the funeral.
