The Makhado SAPS launched a manhunt after the escape of a Zimbabwean national, Charles Banda (19) , from lawful custody last Wednesday. According to the spokesperson for the Makhado SAPS, Capt Maano Sadiki, the police were loading trial-awaiting prisoners into a police van to transfer them to the Thohoyandou Prison, when Banda managed to escape. He was in custody on charges of theft and being found in possession of suspected stolen property. At the time of his arrest, he was staying in Tshikota.
