Man (19) escapes fro police custody

The Makhado SAPS launched a manhunt after the escape of a Zimbabwean national, Charles Banda (19) , from lawful custody last Wednesday. According to the spokesperson for the Makhado SAPS, Capt Maano Sadiki, the police were loading trial-awaiting prisoners into a police van to transfer them to the Thohoyandou Prison, when Banda managed to escape. He was in custody on charges of theft and being found in possession of suspected stolen property. At the time of his arrest, he was staying in Tshikota. Anyone with information that might lead to the re-arrest of Banda can phone the Makhado SAPS at 082 319 9638.

Several awards for the top achievers in adult education in Limpopo Province

The province's top adult education achievers for 2011 received awards during a function held at the Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Centre (KSCC) a fortnight ago. The learners, who also included inmates at the prison, were honoured by the Limpopo Department of Education's Adult Education and Training (AET) section.

Young Khaif Patel from Eltivillas Primary scored an impressive 105 not out in a cricket match against Louis Trichardt Primary on Tuesday. What makes this innings remarkable is the fact that young Khaif only recently turned nine and he was playing in a team consisting of older players, some of whom are 12 and 13 years old. To top off a fine afternoon, young Khaif also took six wickets when he was brought on to bowl.
