The Limpopo provincial government has started with imbozos to talk to the communities about the 49 unresolved “ritual murder” cases in the Vhembe District.

During his recent appearance before the PSL’s disciplinary committee, the managing director of Black Leopards Football Club, Mr David Thidiela, was found guilty of bringing the league into disrepute.

A resident of Dzwerani village, Humbulani Ernest Madzimbalale (19), will spend the next 13 years behind bars, after he was found guilty of murder. His case was finalized in the Venda High Court last Friday.

The crime prevention rally at Makonde, where the MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison, Machwene Semenya, was the guest of honour, nearly turned into a circus when one of the guest speakers, Mr James Delekisa, the Provincial Organising Secretary of Sanco, refused to deliver an important address, because he claimed there were plans to discredit him by the organisers of the function.

Amid protests from the angry crowd that demanded that he not be granted bail, the 73-year-old Bishop Tanzwani Ramafamba, facing charges of ritual murder and attempted murder, was granted R5 000 bail in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Barely two hours after the Limpopo’s MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison, Machwene Semenya, addressed a crime-prevention rally on Friday at Makonde village, a famous traditional healer of Khubvi, a village near Makonde, shot and killed his wife and later committed suicide.
