Replay Dance Crew new and exciting

An entertainment group, The Replay Dance Crew from Shayandima, is providing a unique dance performance at various entertainment events in the Venda region.

This group mostly leaves the audiences wondering who they are as their dance performances are combinations of breakdance, local dance, Sipantsula, crump, reggae chant and popular American dance moves. Their recent performances during a Can-Do concert at the University of Venda attracted the prominent musician, Arthur Mafokate, from 999 Music.

Replay Dance Crew was founded by three young men who were endeavouring to refrain from living the street life. Tshimanagadzo Ratshilumela (21) composes the music which the group uses to perform. The other members are the leader, Emmanuel Ratshilumela (18), often known by his stage name, Mini Tash, and Lutendo Mamatho (20), prominently known as Sobo.

The group's manager, Ms Rita Denga Nephawe from Rita Dee Entertainment, said these young men’s combination was providing a unique performance in the region. “The combination of these three young boys always brings every crowd to its feet after every performance,” she said.

So far, this group has already won nine competitions in the region and Thulamela Municipality awarded them certificates and trophies during heritage celebrations last year. “They did the opening theme for Tshima 2013. They have entertained during Makhado Annual show since 2012 and we will always remember their awesome coffin routine in 2013,” said Nephawe.

She added that the musician Mafokate approached them after watching their performance and proposed to work with them when he tours around Limpopo. The group’s performance music is always a collaboration of international and local numbers. Although they are struggling to acquire sponsorship, Gym for You, a local gym, has sponsored them with a place to rehearse and gym.   

Since the crew members are busy with their education, they have been ambassadors of theEducation is the Key Campaign, which helps them inspire many more young children to refrain from alcohol and drug abuse.

Replay Dance Crew will release their debut DVD this coming December. It will feature multiple performances and eight different customs.
