Afro pop diva releases quality album

Just like good wine that mellows with time, Limpopo Afropop diva Londolani Ramulongo, better known as Malandolo in entertainment circles, has come out smoking with the release of her latest offering, Ndi Nne.

Her latest offering comes almost five years after she released her last album.

The latest CD has five intoxicating tracks, which are all in the same mould as her previous albums. However, they have an African jazz feel, which made her a household name in the industry.

Asked why she took so long to come up with a new album, she pointed out that she is not into "quick bubblegum music and a quick buck, but music that will last for generations. Low-quality music comes and goes, but the good one will last forever. I want to do something that will stay and be listened to by many generations after we are gone."

She said she could not produce an album each year, but needed time to compose and arrange quality music. She also fired shots at music pirates, saying they were stealing the livelihood of artists and also leading to the closure of the music industry.

She said that she was able to make a living as she was mostly booked to perform at small venues around the country. “Big promoters overlook us for big gigs, but we are able to make a living from the shows we have all over the country. With the support we are getting, we will not tire of giving our fans good music,” she said.

She added that, apart from music, she has started her own business, Magodi Music Productions. “We have started inviting businesspeople from all over Limpopo, and we rope in experts who motivate them and share experiences with them. It is working, and those who attended said they learnt a lot." For copies of her new album or to book her for gigs, fans can phone Malandolo at 072 964 1425.
