The gospel singer Dorris Davhana has moved from popular gospel to reggae-gospel with the release of her much-awaited new album, Ndi do mu gwadamela.

She is now known in music circles as Jah Lady Dorris D.

According to people who had already bought and listened to the songs contained on Ndi do mu gwadamela, Jah Lady Dorris D gives her all as she takes listeners to greener pastures with her velvety voice.

“I have kept my promise – when I promised my fans that I would come back with a reggae-gospel album,” she said. “Music, thorough its genres, is very broad – and people must not fear change. I need all my fans to understand that a change of genre or sound does not mean that I am no longer the same singer whom they have known, supported and loved through the years.”

The album contains songs such as Holy Spirit, Give me power, Vho hangwa u livhuwa, Ndu wale tshifhambano, Shango ndi la Mudzimu, and Khotsi anga.

Jah Lady Dorris D said that she understood very well that people, particularly her fans, would always be curious about her change of dress and genre.

“There are some people who have started asking me a lot of questions about my person,” she said. “They ask if I smoke ganja. It's so funny,” she laughed softly.

Her previous albums include Baxolele Nkosi (2009), and Murena He Vha Vula Hone (2014).

Jah Lady Dorris D is also a motivational speaker and a member of the local project which fights piracy. She believes that when God opens up a person's way, no one can close it.
