Multi-talented actress is back on Muvhango soapie

The royal princess, singer, former Miss Thohoyandou, model and actress, Azwimmbavhi Rambuda, is back on the television screens in the role of Mpho in the soapie Muvhango.

The beautiful Rambuda (28), who hails from Dzimauli Musanda Ha-Rambuda, was off-screen for more than a year after her role become unattractive to the viewers. She is, however, back in a juicy storyline depicting a love triangle that is not uncommon in the Venda culture. The storyline involves Mulimisi (played by Humbulani Tsharani) and Shonisani (played by Tshinondiwa Thovhakale).

Azwimmbavhi’s love for acting began to develop while she was still a teenager. “It started back then when I was still attending Sunday school at the Rambuda Lutheran Church. I never really studied drama in high school, but they never had those in our school. I studied drama and performance, media and cultural studies at the University of Kwazulu Natal. That’s where I nurtured this passion,” she said. She holds a BA degree in drama and performance studies, media and cultural studies from the University of Kwazulu Natal.

“I am excited to be back so that I can showcase my acting talent. The production is good and (so is) the cast,” she said. She emphasized that being on television comes with great responsibility. “You definitely need to be grounded. If you are not grounded, you might get lost in all these things that come with fame,” she said.

Today she is also living the dream of being a model. She said that she always dreamt of having an agency and becoming a real top model. She has been travelling around the world, doing great photo shoots with big companies. “I have gone to places like Milan, Paris, and Tokyo; places I only dreamed of then,” she said.

During the time she was off-screen, she decided to further her studies. “I did one year of performance studies (occasional study) at WITS University. I have just graduated from the University of South Africa with a BA Honours in media studies and communications,” she said. She also ventured into the music industry. “I have a number of house music singles and a music video, such as Somalia and Tshigombela,” she said.

The talented Rambuda is also a digital marketing strategist at Inspired Community Research and Development (ICRD) Group Foundation, based in the city of Johannesburg.

She encouraged the audience to watch Muvhango every Monday to Friday at 21:00 on SABC 2.

Mbulaheni Ridovhona

The 22-year-old Mbulaheni (Gary) Ridovhona has been passionate about journalism to the extent that he would buy himself a copy of weekly Univen students' newsletter, Our Voice. After reading, he would write stories about his rural village, Mamvuka, and submit them to the very newsletter for publication. His deep-rooted love for words and writing saw him register for a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies at the University of Venda, and joined the Limpopo Mirror team in February 2016 as a journalism intern.
