T Man Gavini turns to God for help

After years of misfortune, kwaito star Thivhulawi Ndou, popularly known as T Man Gavini in music circles, has finally found peace as a born-again Christian. The “Mmbwa ya la Inwe a Noni” hitmaker, who rose to prominence in 2006 and churned out many hits thereafter, is now a member of the Assemblies of God, a Zionist church based in Tshilungoma, outside Thohoyandou.

T Man Gavini used to be a highly sought-after musician, being invited to perform at big events. But as fate would have it, fame got to his head, and instead of focusing on his seemingly promising music career, he got mixed up with the wrong crowds and ended up being hooked on drugs and alcohol. Fortunately, with the help of well-known attorney Adv Mpho Nefuri, he was admitted to a Pretoria rehab centre for a full year in 2020 to help him recover from his bad habits.

Everyone was very excited and happy for him when, a year later, he announced that he managed to beat his addictions and quit using drugs for good and that he would be making music again on a full-time basis. He even talked about working on his next album. However, things have not been going that well with him, and not much has happened in terms of improving his music career. He came to a crossroads where he had to make some serious decisions regarding his future.

Over the past weekend, T Man Gavini formally announced his new life as a born-again Christian, as well as the release of a brand-new single, appropriately titled “I am Born Again”.

About this new chapter in his life, the artist said he had tried everything to put his life and music back on track, but nothing seemed to be happening. “I have been trying to get back on my feet, but nothing seemed to work. Promoters seemed to have forgotten me, and it was tough for me. I felt I had to do something about my life, and my only refuge was the church. When all else fails, there is only God to run to for help,” he said.

T Man Gavini said that going to church and being born again had changed his life drastically. “Being born-again has its rewards. I now have time with my family, which I did not have before. This also allows me to focus on my music, and already I have a single which will be out soon,” he said.
