Mashudu Nemadzivhani from Makhuvha, better known as Tsilatsila Murendi, released his latest reggae poetry single “Vhutshilo” on 7 January, and if he keeps up this standard of work, a bright future undoubtedly awaits him.

Tshivenda music lovers are in for a treat and can start the new year on a high note, following the release of another album by the legendary and iconic Tshivenda music outfit, Adziambei Band. The album, titled “Mihwalo Vol 19”, was released on Friday, 12 January.

Popular radio deejay and musician Diimiseni Mualusi, who goes by the stage name Dj Vhangani Muimbi wa Mapiano, never tires of coming up with fresh new vibes. The musician from Tshaulu, who also happens to be a presenter for a local online radio station, seems to be relentless. On 23 December, he released his second album, “Afrika Tshipembe”, which is highly in demand with his fans. Shortly after that, on 1 January, he caused more hype when he released his brand-new single, titled “Mavhulaise”.

Radio presenter Michael Mabungana Mulelu, also known as “Pastor Holy Mike,” unveiled his second book, titled “The Secret Behind Altars”, at a book launch in Polokwane on Friday, 8 December.

With a music career spanning more than 20 years, Moses Musenwa, also known as “Vhomusenwa”, has made significant strides in the music industry. His inaugural album was recorded in 2002, and since then, he has produced 13 more albums - 10 in the Tshivenda traditional-music genre and four, including his latest release, in the gospel-music category.

Ms Mathilda Avhashoni Mamatseane, a disabled carpenter from Gondeni la Mabilu, who recently won an award at the Murumba Cultural Parade Awards, aims to inspire other disabled individuals. The awards ceremony took place at Tshifulanani Stadium on Friday, 15 December. Mamatseane received recognition in the Arts and Crafts category for her exceptional craftsmanship.

Well-known rapper, singer, and producer Zwonaka Silidi, also known as “Mad Slide,” says that he will now only be making music on the side because of other life commitments. The 29-year-old from Tshavhalovhedzi in Nzhelele is a qualified civil engineer by day. He entered the music industry in 2007 as a freestyling emcee and has become one of the most respected musicians in the Nzhelele Valley.

Award-winning Tsonga traditional artist Risimati Morris Mabasa, popularly known as MC Mabasa, was recently honoured by Yi nhla Production, supported by the National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, for his significant contribution to the Tsonga music industry over the past few decades. The function took place at Gija Lifestyle Pub and Grill in Malamulele on 23 December.

After three years of courtship, the popular and celebrated Limpopo Rhumba musician, Ntakadzeni Manyage, better known as Alingo and the Babes in music circles, took his “friendship” with Ms Hulisani Sikhipha to another level when they tied the knot.

The current Miss University of Venda, Unarine Netshia, experienced another triumph as she was crowned Miss Teen Makhado Royal at the Kone Village Lodge in Louis Trichardt on Friday, 15 December. This title followed closely after her Miss University of Venda win at the Univen Auditorium on Thursday, 21 November.

One of the best local romance-music groups in the country, Cornerstone, are bidding their fans farewell with the release of their very last single, called “Ri toda u divha” (We want to know).

The beautiful Zaidah Mbulaheni (21) from Eltivillas in Louis Trichardt won the Miss Makhado Royal 2024 title. She received the crown during a ceremony held at the Kone Boutique Lodge in Tshiozwi on Friday, 15 December.
