Residents around the Sinthumule area who fall under the Makhado Municipality's jurisdiction, whose houses were swept by the heavy floods of 2000, said they are fed-up with empty promises by the Municipality.

Residents have been living in bad conditions since the flood, and some of them live in shacks and others in tents, supplied by the municipality.

Soccer players and spectators hit by lightning

The soccer match between Makonde Manchester and Mudaswali United Brothers a fortnight ago, ended in chaos, when three players and five spectators were hit by lightning. The game took place at the Mudaswali grounds.

The teams were involved in a Sibasa District Football Association Super League match and the ground was filled to capacity. Fifteen minutes before half-time, huge clouds filled the air, and lighting and thunder appeared.
