The Mphadzha community is urging the Makhado Municipality not to let them down as they have been waiting for years for the construction of a sports ground for both Madabude Primary School and the Mphadzha community. Khuthadzo Munyai emerged as the champion of the Musangwe Fist-Fighting Tournament held at the Ngudza open ground last Saturday afternoon, securing both the R5,000 cash prize and the prestigious bragging rights. The tournament was organised by the Vhembe Traditional Entertainment Organisation.
A team comprising 59 para-athletes and 20 officials recently travelled to Bloemfontein to represent Limpopo Province at the Toyota SASAPD National Championships, held from 21 to 25 March. The team’s results are a testament to the positive development of para-sport in Limpopo.
Joy and excitement abounded at the Ramantsha grounds on Sunday when Tshikhwani Stone Breakers were crowned as the champions of the Liguluvhe Easter Soccer Challenge. Stone Breakers took the coveted winners’ cup after beating Muraleni United Brothers 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out. The two teams played to a goalless draw in the final match.
Teams that participated in the Vhumbedzi Soccer Tournament are still awaiting their prize money. The tournament, which took place at the Begwa Grounds from 16 to 30 December, was organised by Mr. Ronewa Nemakonde. Thirteen teams from Tshaulu and the surrounding areas participated in the event.
A Grade 11 learner from Vhulaudzi High School in Tshitavha, Phethani Mabala (19), is hoping to make an impression during the upcoming SA High School Track & Field Championships in the Western Cape. She will be competing in the 5,000m and 3,000m (steeplechase) events.
Top South African professional soccer player Khuliso “Sailor” Mudau was honoured at Mudzwiri Lodge, Musina, last Friday.
With most of the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League left with four matches to wrap up the season, which team will lift the trophy is still not clear. The race for promotion is between Mpheni Defenders and the Giyani-based Emmanuel FC.
All roads will lead to the Thohoyandou Stadium next Tuesday, 2 April, where Venda Football Club (VFC) and Black Leopards will test each other’s strength in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match.
