One of South Africa’s most decorated boxing champions, who was born and bred in the Vhembe District, is the very first boxer from Makwarela township to have a documentary about him aired on a national television channel. The documentary, called “Timebomb”, focuses on the life of Phillip Ndou and is currently being aired on Mzansi Magic Channel 161, three times a week: Thursdays between 09:00 and 10:00, Saturdays between 20:30 and 21:30, and Sundays between 20:30 and 21:30.
The struggle for promotion and to escape the relegation axe at the end of the season will continue among the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League this weekend. Only one match will be played on Friday afternoon, while the remaining fixtures are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The lone match on Friday will feature The Dolphins FC against Mokopane PJ Stars at the Senwabarwana Sports Complex outside Polokwane.
In their quest to solidify the team’s technical department, Venda Football Club (VFC) has appointed Mr Khuliso Rashamuse as the new assistant coach. The 36-year-old mentor joined the team’s co-coaches, Mr Duncan Lechesa and Johnny Ferreira, for the first time at the team’s training camp on Monday morning.

Local boxing trainer-manager John “Smoking Joe” Nemakonde has warned professional boxers who participate in traditional fist-fighting tournaments (musangwe) as well as street fighting bouts to stop doing so with immediate effect. Nemakonde was responding to allegations that some of his boxers were spotted participating in musangwe tournaments.
The last batch of the round-of-32 matches of the Nedbank Cup will be played at different venues throughout the country this weekend. Madridtas FC, who bought their ABC Motsepe League franchise from Black Leopards at the beginning of the current soccer season, will be on the road on Sunday. They will travel to Bloemfontein, where they will lock horns with D General FC at the Free State Stadium.
Black Leopards will be campaigning in the DStv Premiership League come next season if the utterances of the team’s assistant coach, Mr Papi Zothwane, are anything to go by. Zothwane was seated on the team’s technical bench for the first time in their league game against Platinum City Rovers at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. Black Leopards won the game 3-1.
